Since ‘the Beginning’, ‘Mankind’ has been created in ‘the “Image/Likeness” of God’, Spirit, Body,& Soul.
(Connect Genesis 1;26&27/I Thessalonians 5;23,& Revelation 1;8,14-16,& Colossians 1;15&16, II Corinthians 4;4&6,& John 1;1,3,11&14, 12;45, 14;7,9&14).
Like the “Son of man” (Revelation 1;13-18/John 3;13), Mankind is ALSO a three part ‘Spiritual Being’.
However, since Adam & Eve’s sin/disobedience, (a result of ‘Free Will’), SIN has separated mankind’s Spirit from HIS, God’s Holy Spirit, & now there’s a VOID. Our Spirit is missing something, longs for, & searches for Fulfillment in a reunion with Him; our Spirit yearns for Fellowship with our Creator, GOD. NOT realizing what is missing, we try to satisfy that yearning to fulfill the Emptyness. We pursue earthly desires. ‘Thrill Seekers’ seek that “RUSH” of adrenaline; others pursue ‘Financial Success’ Material Possessions & Power; and then there’s sex, alcohol, or drug addictions/abuse, etc, etc). And only if or when, through Faith, (in submition&repentence), one chooses to “earnestly seek Him, He, our Creator, the Lord God Almighty ”REWARDS”, forgives, fulfills, strengthens, & provides a Blend and Balance to the three Areas of our Spirit, Body,& Soul; (spiritually, physically,&emotionally).
See John Chapter 10; verse 9, “I AM the gate”; .
(Connect with Matthew 7;13&14,& John 8;19&58/Exodus 3;14,& Hebrews 11;6/II Chronicles 7;14/Revelation 1;8,14-16),
& John 10;10, “The thief comes only to steal & kill & destroy; I have come that they may have life,& have it to the full”.
It is the Lord our Creator, ‘God our Savior’s Will, that each Individual ‘earnestly seek’,
& connect, (”become one” with Him. Hebrews 11;6,II Chronicles 7;14,Revelation 1;8,14-16,& II Corinthians 3;17&18/I Corinthians 6;17).
The ‘Sevenfold’ attributes of His, God’s Holy SPIRIT), will provide peace, spiritually, emotionally, & physically, enabling us to live, in Health & Harmony with each other.
(See Isaiah 11;2-5,Revelation 1;4,4;5,5;6,& John 14;17,23,& 27, Deuteronomy 4;29, Psalm 53;2, Isaiah 41;10, I Corinthians 6;17,& Philippians 4;13).
Spiritual, physical,& emotional healing, empowerment & fulfillment takes place as we submit to His, God’s Will, while consistently Loving & serving,& faithfully seeking “the Way,& the truth”, according to “the Word”…, (Jesus Christ).
(Connect John 1;1,3,11&14/Proverbs 30;5&6/James 1;18/Hebrews 4;12/Revelation 19;11-13,& John 12;45, 14;6,7,9&14,& Revelation 1;8,14-16,& 21;6&7).
The basic premise of the NCCA’s Temperament Theory is that; (Unit II, #18&19, I T C T, page 44), “man is predetermined by God, with certain desires, motivations, talents,& abilities. When temperament needs of an individual are improperly met, or ignored, they become weaknesses.
The goal of the NCCA,& Creation Therapy’s Inborne Temperament, ‘Faith Based Counseling’ is to assist an individual in understanding how to live out God given strengths, & overcome weaknesses in healthy ways.
Temperament Theory
Temperament Theory is based on understanding the inner man, (the Soul, one’s heart & mind), & applying that knowledge to bring a balance to all three (emotional) areas of one’s temperament;
Social ‘Inclusion’, will & ‘Control’,& love & ‘Affection’.
- The interpersonal need for Inclusion is defined behaviorally, (by Dr. Schutz), as the need to establish & maintain satisfactory relations, interaction,& association with people.
- The interpersonal need for Control is defined behaviorally, (by Dr. Schutz), as the need to establish and maintain satisfactory relations with people, in respect to control and power.
- The interpersonal need for Affection is defined behaviorally, (by Dr. Schutz), as the need to establish and maintain satisfactory relations with others in respect to love and affection. (#5,6&7 of the NCCA’s M&F,C, page 56)
Dr. Wm. Schutz defines a need as a situation or condition of an individual, of which the nonrealization, leads to undesirable consequences”. (#4. M&F,C, page 55)
If one acts out their temperament needs functionally, there is little stress; & conversely, if an individual is unable to, (or chooses not to) meet their temperament needs; the individual, in time…,
will experience increasing STRESS, slowly & silently within their Soul, (their heart & mind; thoughts, will,& emotions).
For example; a person who has a temperament need for privacy will feel relaxed & fulfilled, when they establish a regimented time of privacy. However, if they violate their temperament need by OVERINDULGING in Interpersonal social Activities, resentment and anger will build up internally, for the ‘intrusions’/interuptions in their private life.
We are created in the Lord, ‘God our Savior’s “Image/Likeness”, Spirit, Body,& Soul;
(Genesis 1;26&27, Luke 2;26&11, I Timothy 1;1, Colossians 1;15&16,& I Thessalonians 5;23)
The Soul, (one’s heart & mind), encompasses one’s ‘Inborne Temperament’, one’s thoughts, will,& emotions. And When one’s Inborne Temperament is pinpointed & understood; we can use this knowledge to provide selfunderstanding in many areas of life. (Connect Colossians 2;3, Proverbs 2;2, 3;21,& John 1;1,3,11&14, with John 12;45, 14;6,7,9&14,& Revelation 1;8,14-16,& 21;6&7.)
And this will lead towards:
- deeper self awareness
- stronger, more fulfilling marriages, family relationships and friendships
- appropriate decision making strategies,& better career and hobby choices
- healthy ways to counteract stress and pressure
- the development of spiritual maturity
- the PEACE, joy,& feelings of significance that increase with emotional/spiritual growth & maturity.
Note; that one’s Inborne Temperament Profile emphasizes what is DEEP within one’s Spirit
And that one’s character is not an Inheritance, it is the result of a person’s life Choices. One learns & chooses their behavior, which determines/defines the person’s character. And this occurs according to the person’s environment, associations,& values. One’s Character is the result of one’s learned & chosen Behavior.
Generally, one’s behavior’s are expressed according to, & consistent with their Temperament Needs. Yet, one develops and self selects their own personality traits, by the way they want to be seen by others. One’s Inborne Temperament, plus one’s Learned & chosen Behavior results in their personality;a daily ‘Mask’, which only reveals/projects/shows…, what we want others to see.
The following is an abrieviated perspective, a summary of the five basic Temperaments. Each Temperament possesses a varying degree of what would be considered, an Internal, Meditative approach to life,& or an External, Environmental approach to life. (A pure, compulsive Temperament in all 3 areas of Inclusion,Control,& Affection is rare.)
Every individual’s Inborne Temperament is unique,& most are a ‘BLEND’ of the 5 different types:
- The Choleric Temperament is ‘Task Oriented’,& desires an internally meditative approach to life, but is motivated by public interaction,& the environment.
- A Supine Temperament desires external public environmental interaction, but is motivated internally, by a meditative approach to life.
- The Phlegmatic Temperament will be motivated internally or externally, depending, upon the motivation.
- The Sanguine Temperament is externally and environmentally motivated,& seeks external, public activity with environmentally motivated individuals.
- The Melancholy Temperament, is internally private and meditative; & seeks internal private activity with meditative individuals. (# 32-36, I T C T, page 46)
*[Understanding each other’s Temperament Needs, allows for compromise without resentment. (PMC/136).]
CAUTION; one needs to be aware/mindful that the information provided in an A. P. S. Report is an indication of temperament traits,& that it is not an analysis of the person’s character. As a ‘CARTOON CARICATURE’ accentuates & exagerates an individual’s prominent features, the A. P. S. Report, (one’s ‘Temperament Profile’; which is dependent upon the responses to the survey), magnifies/accentuates/emphasizes a person’s tendencies & needs, regarding their Inborne Temperament.
A person’s needs vary, depending on one’s age, development, & learned/chosen behavior. While the traits described will show a good cross section of one’s temperament, one may not identify with, understand, or agree with the traits described, or the A.P.S. report’s statements. This presents an opportunity for discussion. If questions or concerns are expressed, there’s a good chance that the information provided would be clarified.
